My Christmas holiday

My Christmas holiday was absolutely faboulous. Christmas evening, I went to café Merz with some friends. It became a night full of laughs ánd some romance.I had so much fun!
Unfortunately, the day after I had to get up very early, because we were going to visit my grand-parents. When we arrived, my mother's sister and her friend were there already, so we had lunch. During the afternoon, I helped my aunt with the cooking, while my sister was drawing the Christmas cards. This is a tradition in our family, every year we all get a personal christmas card, made by someone else in the family. This year I got a card with a Santa Claus woman, with some extra clothes made out of paper so I could decide what she should wear.
When dinner was ready, we all got in our chairs around the table, and started supper. It was delicious, because my aunt is a very good cook.
My parents, sister and I went to bed very early because the day after we were going on wintersport! We had already packed our bags so we could drive right to Söll, Austria.
The next day I got woken up at 4.50 am, and I absolutely don't like to get up early so I was very cantankerous. We went with friens of my parents, two boys with an age of 15 and 17, and one girl who is 11 years old. We met at some parking place near the borders with Germany. After we greeted each other, while we were still half asleep, our journey continued.
About three hours later we stopped somewhere halfway Germany, to drink a cup of coffee or, in my case, a delicious cup hot chocolate milk with whipped cream. What I forgot when I enthousiasticly ordered my chocolate milk wíth whipped cream, is that in Germany, they don't seem to know that in whipped cream you should really put some sugar, so when you order whipped cream, you get some kind of crème frêche in cream type. Taste very weird, I can tell you.
Anyway, after about half an hour catching up with each other again, and waking up, we got back in our cars and drove on.
When two more hours had passed by, we started to get really starving, because we actually didn't even had a real breakfast, just some buns at seven. I'm sure you'll understand that I got very excited when a Burger King got  in our sight.
After a hamburger with so many calories I think I don't even want to know, we could go for it again.

Around half past six we arrived in Söll, but then we still had to find out where our appartment was located. That turned out to be not as easy as we thought it would, but after we almost drove up a piste, we found it after all.
The villa in which our appartment was located, was surrounded by beautiful pastures and conifers.
The owners, who spoke unintelligible German by the way, were very friendly and offered us a glass of some traditional Austrian whiskey. After that we finally got led to the appartment, which was very pretty, with two bathrooms, six bedrooms and a big, open kitchen with a bar where you could eat on. We were the first users so everything smelled lovely new.
That night everyone got to bed very early because we all were exhausted by the trip.

The day after we got up around eight, because we had to hire skis, helmets and skiboots.
When we all had a complete ski-outfit and got a skipass, we went up with the cable car, because our ski lessons were starting! When we arrived, I saw an quite old man who was incredibly tanned for his age.
He turned out to be our ski teacher, our fathers got some strange dude with a really weird haircut. My father said he smelled very alcoholic, so that explains a lot.
The first day we learned the basic position in which you ski, so that's very important. The first day I only fell once!
'Beginners' luck' everyone said. Unfortunately for me, that turned out to be true. The next days I fell so much I still have some bruises on my knees and elbows. But that's part of the skiing, 'if you don't fall you learn nothing' said my teacher. His name was Michael and he was very nice, but in the beginning I was a little disappointed because I was hoping for a sexy ski teacher, haha.
After three days of lessons in the morning and free skiing in the afternoon, our teacher suggested a day trip to other ski regions. We were all excited, and after our parents gave their permission, we went on a big trip.
After only half an hour, we suddenly lost the other kids from the other family, Pieter-Bas, Jasper en Welmoed. They were right behind us and then, suddenly they had lost! Michael got a little panicked and went searching for them. We had to wait somewhere. Then, after a few minutes, the children got in sight! We were happy they didn't break anything, but were a little confused because our ski teacher was still searching for them ! Fortunately, after some more minutes, he came by. He said he was very happy they didn't got injured.

After two more days of skiing, falling, laughing, and après-skiing, we went back home.
Next year we'll probably go again! I'm already looking forward to it.

  1. Hi Eline,

Finally you have produced something which really reflects your true abilities in English! Well doen!

I love the somewhat advanced vocab like "cantankerous" "unintellegible" and so on.
However, you also make some funny mistakes. You tend to omit prepositions from your sentences, and some strange errors (or typo's) in your tenses.

All in all, much better than your previous postings!
